Here is a selection of recent studio paintings dating back to 2022. Most of the paintings are fantastical and made from imagination. However, they're also informed by the work I create from life or "direct observation". My goal with these paintings is to create spaces where the relationship between the figure(s) and ground feels disconnected or uncanny. Mystery, ambiguity, belonging, and alienation are common themes throughout my studio work. The figure, or fragmentation of the figure, provides me with a vehicle to make sense of moments and feelings that I've encountered in my own life. The paintings are made using either oils, gouache, casein, or egg tempera on handmade supports. Some of the paintings are in private collections, but if you would like to inquire about an available painting please contact me via email. Watch my live stream recording where I talk in depth about the paintings in this portfolio.
